Agentic Marketing: The End of the Funnel
The marketing funnel is a relic of human cognitive limitations. It exists because humans are distractible, emotional, and prone to losing interest. We built massive industries around "guiding" people through Awareness, Consideration, and Conversion—optimized for a slow-moving, biological buyer. But when the buyer is an agent, the funnel collapses into a data-driven satisfiability problem.
From persuasion to precision
Agents don't care about your clever copy or your high-production-value video ads. They care about API responses, verified trust signals, and utility-per-dollar. In this world, "marketing" shifts from persuasion to precision. The goal is no longer to convince a human heart, but to satisfy an agentic query. If your product's data isn't structured, verifiable, and discoverable by swarms, you don't exist in the consideration set.
Authenticity as a defensible signal
As the web fills with synthetic content, brand authenticity becomes the only defensible moat. Agents will be tuned to ignore the noise and prioritize verified sources. This is why I talk about The Agentic Enterprise: survival depends on having a clear, machine-readable identity that an agent can trust. Your reputation is your most important API endpoint.
The one-step journey
The customer journey is shrinking. We are moving toward a reality where "searching," "evaluating," and "purchasing" happen in a single computational step taken by an agent. The friction we've lived with—filling out forms, comparing charts, reading reviews—is being abstracted away. For organizations, this means the window of opportunity to influence a decision is smaller and more technical than ever.
The next era of marketing
We are rebuilding marketing infrastructure for an agentic future. It's about satisfiability over salesmanship. At RAPP and in my own projects, I'm focused on how we bridge this gap—ensuring that the products and services we build aren't just great for humans, but optimized for the agents that represent them. The funnel is ending; the interface era is beginning.
